Traditional Thai-yoga massage #01

Traditional Thai-yoga massage

Traditional Thai Yoga Massage is a unique form of bodywork, which works on an energy line system through which the body's natural life force flows. It combines acupressure, applied Yoga and assisted stretching in Yoga positions. I use hands, forearms, feet knees and elbows to apply pressure to important points along these lines. This helps release blocked energy and to free the body's own natural healing potential, thus restoring balance, health and harmony. Both the pressure work and the intensity of the stretches are adapted to your flexibility.

A full treatment giving most benefit lasts 2 hours but if you are short of time this can be tailored to a 1½ hour or 1 hour treatment.

What to expect on your visit for a Thai-Yoga Massage

    Before the massage

On your first visit the massage therapist will begin by carrying out a consultation during which you will be asked about your medical history, current physical condition, stress levels, any pain you may be experiencing and if you have any specific goals for the session. This information will assist the therapist to assess your needs and to determine what techniques to use and how to structure the session to achieve the desired goals from the massage.

Your treatment will take place on the mat on the floor in a warm and comfortable room while the client is fully clothed. It is advisable to wear loose comfortable clothing.

    During the massage

The massage therapist may play soothing music. If you prefer silence or different music, ask the therapist to turn off or change the music.

You will be asked to lie on your back for the first part of the treatment during which the therapist will work on the energy lines by applying acupressure followed by assisted stretching in yoga positions. When appropriate, the therapist will ask you to lie on your side and then the front to carry out more stretching and using forearms, feet, knees and elbow to apply pressure to important points along the energy lines.

Throughout the treatment, the therapist will ask for feedback as the stretches are adapted to the needs and flexibility of the client.

The treatment will end with a relaxing face massage.

    After the massage

The therapist will leave you to relax and allow you to get up slowly in your own time.
